Neutral : Naturally does it

To pull off the natural look there are definitely a few tools of the trade worth employing. The first step is to start off with a neutral background such as white. While this colour is often dismissed as being too cold, it comes in many, many shades from the crisp and sharp whites to the warm and deep whites. As such this underappreciated colour is truly a winner. My advice is to steer clear of cream; something else altogether which makes it a whole lot harder to be successful in achieving a natural look.

Once a white base has been established it can be layered with neutrals. The trick to really making this interior scheme work is to add your neutral colour palette by using natural materials and fibres such as raw unbleached linens, natural cottons, wools, timbers and stone. Too much honey coloured timber however should be avoided – this will dilute the effect. Concentrate on white (shades of) being very much your strength at the base of this scheme.

A natural decorating scheme creates a very calm space and can be further enhanced with detail such as throws and cushions, candles and rugs. It is the textural detail that you enhance your room with which will lift a neutral scheme out of the ordinary and into the fabulous, so make sure great attention is paid to involving these natural textures.
